Joe grew up in southern Oklahoma and began playing the guitar his father bought him at the age of 12.  He spent most of his teen years traveling to festivals, jams, and playing with his family band Blood Kin.  Joe’s love for Bluegrass has served him well as an overall musician.  He is a highly skilled mandolin, dobro and guitar player, and was the runner up in the 2018 Oklahoma State Flat Picking Championships.  Cliff Tops story telling style is a perfect fit for Joe's melodic leads and tasty flat picking fills
